ABSTRACT
Foreign body aspiration may present with various clinical signs and symptoms. We performed bronchoscopy to a patient who was refered to our pediatric intensive care unit for status epilepticus and unexplained respiratory symptoms. We saw a foreign body which was totally obstructing the right main bronchus. After removal of the foreign body, symptoms were improved rapidly. There is increasing use of bronchoscopy in pediatric intensive care unit for purposes of diagnosis and treatment of unexlained pulmoner symptoms over the last two decades. We present a case of foreign body aspiration who was initially treated as status epilepticus because of bronchospasm and unconsciousness.
