ABSTRACT
Amitriptyline intoxication is a frequent and life threatening cause of referral to pediatric emergency departments.The most serious side effects are seen on the central nervous and cardiovascular systems. In patients with severe poisoning, cardiac conduction disorders, supraventricular tachycardia,ventricular dysrhythmias, and hypotension may occur. Eighteen months old girl was admitted to our intensive care unit for hypotension and ventricular fibrillation after receiving amitriptyline tablets of unknown amount. Adenosine, defibrillation, magnesium sulfate, and lidocaine was applied to the patient. With these treatments the patient was discharged completely recovered.
